  • No. Vacation Homes for Good™ is a recognition and standards program. Participating properties may link to their preferred booking platform or direct booking website.

  • Participating properties commit to higher standards related to guest experience, community contribution, local connection, stewardship, and responsible operations.

  • Certification recognizes demonstrated alignment with Vacation Homes for Good™ standards through a structured review process. Participating properties complete a pledge, checklist, and provide supporting information during evaluation.

  • No. Certification is based on review of submitted materials and demonstrated practices rather than self-declared participation.

  • No. Certification applies to an individual property and each property must be reviewed separately.

  • Certification is renewed annually to confirm continued alignment with program standards.

  • Properties commit to standards across five pillars of community-centered hosting, including thoughtful guest expectations, hospitality practices, community contribution, environmental stewardship, and responsible operations. Hosts sign a pledge, complete a checklist, and provide supporting information during evaluation.

  • No. The process is designed to be thoughtful but practical for busy hosts and property owners. Many hosts already demonstrate several qualifying practices as part of responsible hosting.

  • Communities, tourism organizations, and local leaders may choose to reference, encourage, the Vacation Homes For Good™ program to promote responsible hosting, neighborhood stewardship, and community support.   • Participating properties commit to supporting destination communities through a contribution equal to at least 1% of annual rental revenue.

  • Hosts may support:

    • local nonprofits or community organizations

    • the Vacation Homes for Good™ Community Fund

    • a combination of both

  • Examples may include support for housing, food access, environmental conservation, youth programs, community development, arts and culture, or other community-serving initiatives.

  • Hosts provide annual confirmation and supporting documentation, such as donation receipts or nonprofit acknowledgments.

  • No. Vacation homes vary widely by location, size, and hosting style. Certification reflects meaningful alignment with program expectations rather than rigid standardization.

  • No. Hosts are encouraged to prioritize local businesses, goods, and services where practical and reasonably available.

  • Environmental stewardship is one of the five pillars, and expectations are practical and property-appropriate.

  • Certified properties are required to communicate accessibility considerations transparently so guests can make informed decisions about fit and comfort.

  • Certified properties receive recognition materials, digital assets, certification identification, listing consideration in the Vacation Homes for Good™ Directory, and access to member resources as available.

  • Founding Members are part of the inaugural cohort of properties helping establish Vacation Homes for Good™ during its early launch period.

  • Vacation Homes for Good™ certification is administered by the Community-Centered Vacation Home Association (CCVHA), an independent standards body established to recognize vacation homes contributing positively to the communities where they operate.

    Vacation Homes for Good™ is the public-facing recognition program and growing network of participating properties. CCVHA oversees standards, certification review, and ongoing program alignment.

    If you currently support local nonprofits, schools, conservation efforts, community events, or other place-based initiatives near your property, those contributions can count toward the 1% Community Contribution Standard, meaning many hosts are already well on their way to qualifying.

    Vacation Homes for Good™ is designed for hosts who are already doing thoughtful things and want meaningful recognition for it.

  • Vacation Homes for Good™ is a family-owned, woman-owned, U.S.-based initiative founded to recognize vacation homes that strengthen relationships between travelers, hosts, and destination communities through more thoughtful, community-centered hosting.

    Based in New England and operating nationally, Vacation Homes for Good™ is administered by the Community-Centered Vacation Home Association (CCVHA), the independent standards body that oversees certification and program standards.
